Panasonic Unveils New Workgroup Document Scanners

NEWARK, N.J.--Panasonic, a provider of industry leading document management and imaging solutions, announced today its new KV-S1057C and KV-S1027C workgroup document scanners. The scanners’ small footprint design allows it to conveniently fit into small spaces, such as counter tops in reception areas of a bank or hospital. The new models deliver improved scanning speeds and new paper feed mechanisms offering fast, reliable scanning of not only paper documents but additional items such as embossed ID cards or passports. Panasonic Takes “Founding Leader” Role in R2 Global Sustainable Recycling Electronics Initiative

CapturePrint Tracker™ is a non-invasive software solution for gathering meter reads from copiers and printers. In general, the installation requires little or no involvement from your onsite IT department. Meter data is passed securely through firewalls using the HTTPS protocol, similar to how a web browser communicates with a banking website. Scanning the Future Industry Experts, BLI Discuss Trends and Tradition at Scanner TAC Meeting

<p><i>By <a href="">Lisa Reider</a>, Senior Product Editor, Scanners and Environmental</i></p> <p>For BLI’s second scanner Testing Advisory Committee (TAC) meeting, representatives from Canon, HP, Kodak, Panasonic and Plustek joined forces with one goal in mind—to weigh in on BLI’s current and upcoming test procedures.&#160; The day-long meeting covered a range of topics, including varying methods of testing scan speed, the importance of optical character recognition when evaluating image quality, scan-to-cloud functionality, environmental testing for scanners and the addition of harder document types to the media handling test. While some topics resulted in the need for additional research and discussions, others, such as the new media types to add, were immediately resolved. </p> <p>Established in 2006, TAC meetings let vendors comment on BLI’s test methods, provide insight into upcoming trends and share information on how different market segments use products in unique ways. TAC meetings, both here and in Europe, touch every aspect of BLI’s work, while giving vendors a chance to interact. </p>
