Five Kyocera Document Solutions America Multifunctional Products Highly Recommended by Buyers Laboratory

FAIRFIELD, N.J. – March 16, 2015 – KYOCERA Document Solutions America, Inc., one of the world’s leading document solutions companies, today announced that Buyers Laboratory LLC (BLI) highly recommends the TASKalfa 7551ci and 3051ci color multifunctional products (MFPs), and the TASKalfa 5501i, 3501i, and 3010i monochrome MFPs. BLI, a leading provider of product intelligence for the imaging industry, awarded each of the five devices its Highly Recommended/Excellent rating for reliability. Both color MFPs earned additional Excellent commendations for value; the monochrome devices were also recognized with top marks in value as well and print quality.

In evaluating the color MFPs, BLI cited their “outstanding reliability,” and noted that their excellent features combined with a lower acquisition cost “make for an outstanding value.” Equally important, BLI noted that these color devices had “faster than average tested scan speeds” and “smaller than average color scan file sizes.”

Test Facilities at KYOCERA Document Solutions’ R&D Center Receive International Standard ISO/IEC 17025 Accreditation for Chemical Emissions

Osaka, Japan — February 13, 2015 —KYOCERA Document Solutions Inc. announces that the test facilities located at its R&D center (Osaka City) have received International Standard ISO/IEC 17025 accreditation as a chemical emission test site by Perry Johnson Laboratory Accreditation, Inc. (PJLA), an accreditation body for test facilities.

ISO/IEC 17025 is an International Standard designed for the accreditation of test and calibration processes in specific fields of testing, which ensures that the test process, calibration processes, and test laboratories conform to a quality management system, and that the laboratory is equipped to perform tests and calibration activities at a global standard.

New KYOCERA Document Solutions America Applications Boosts Efficiency and Employee Productivity

The application, DMConnect, transforms a KYOCERA multifunctional product (MFP) into an on-ramp for capturing hardcopy documents and processes the data according to an organization’s specific requirements. Administrators can create customized workflows within their existing infrastructure utilizing tools such as workflow wizard and workflow studio.

DMConnect offers advanced features like multi-destination workflows, user group restrictions and searchable list fields. KYOCERA Document Solutions Receives the 2014 Blue Angel Award

Meerbusch, Germany – December 5, 2014 –KYOCERA Document Solutions Deutschland GmbH has been awarded the Blue Angel 2014 sustainability award. The jury in particular praised the Japanese manufacturer's commitment to constantly improving its laser printers, which was the decisive factor in selecting a candidate.

The jury named the winner of the third "Blue Angel" award in Dusseldorf last week. Reinhold Schlierkamp, Managing Director of KYOCERA Document Solutions Germany, accepted the award from Maria Krautzberger, President of the Federal Environment Agency.

GNU Bash "Shellshock" Security Vulnerability Update

A critical security vulnerability has been reported in the GNU Bash "Shellshock", which is a common command line used in many Linux/UNIX operating systems. KYOCERA has investigated whether or not its products, software and services are affected. The results are as follows.

Printers/MFPs

KYOCERA products use a special embedded version of the Linux Operating System. There is no access to the Bash prompt from the network, operation panel, USB, or any other interface, therefore, KYOCERA printers and MFPs are not susceptible to the “Shellshock” vulnerability.

Kyocera Mita Managed Print Services (MPS) Improve the Health of the Burnside War Memorial Hospital (BMWH)

Background

A not-for-profit, community-based hospital with 76 beds, Burnside Hospital provides premier acute medical, surgical and obstetric health care for patients, clients and their families, and has a strong reputation for its maternity care.

The hospital employs 330 people working in shifts to cover its 24 hour-a-day, seven day-a-week operation. Of the 330 employees, approximately 120 have access to a PC and 180 operate a diverse range of document management devices including five Canon monochrome Multifunction Devices (MFDs), 23 Lexmark monochrome and colour printers, and various fax machines and scanners.

The Challenge

The Canon Multifunction Devices were facing end of life and Burnside’s service contract with Canon was due to expire. With increased service calls for the devices and more frequent episodes of downtime, the poor performance of the devices was impacting the efficiency of Burnside’s medical records department and their reception desks, both of which are critical to Burnside’s daily administration and require reliable printing and copying capabilities for maintaining patient records and addressing a range of other documentation needs.
