Konica Minolta, Inc. (Headquarters: Tokyo, President Shoei Yamana; hereinafter “Konica Minolta”) has been appointed as a board member of the Mopria Alliance, a non-profit membership organization comprised of leading global technology companies.

The Mopria Alliance was established with the goal of developing a set of technology standards to facilitate wireless printing from any smartphone, tablet or other mobile devices to any printer certified by the Alliance. Since its formation in September 2013, global companies from various industries – including printing, software, engineering, consulting and semiconductor manufacturing – have joined the Mopria Alliance to work collaboratively towards providing an ideal mobile printing environment.

Konica Minolta's Seven MFPs Win Globally Prestigious “Red Dot Award: Product Design 2014”

Tokyo (March 25, 2014) - Konica Minolta, Inc. (Konica Minolta) today announced that the company has been awarded the “Red Dot Award: Product Design 2014” for its main products in the Business Technologies business: five models of the bizhub-series A3 color MFPs (multi-functional peripherals) and two models of the bizhub-series A4 color MFPs.

The Red Dot Design Award is an international design competition organized by the Design Center Nordrhein Westfalen, Germany, and reputed as one of the world's most recognized design awards, along with the iF Design Award (Germany) and the IDEA awards (the U.S.).

The winners of the Red Dot Design Award have been chosen by the jury of international experts based on nine criteria including level of innovation, functionality, ecological compatibility, quality and ergonomics.

Production Site in Wuxi, China, Achieves First “Green Factory Certification Sytem Level 2” Among Business Technologies Factories

Tokyo (March 4, 2014) - Konica Minolta, Inc. (Konica Minolta) today announced that its manufacturing subsidiary, Konica Minolta Business Technologies (WUXI) Co., Ltd. (Wuxi Factory) in Wuxi, China, has been certified with Level 2 status of the Green Factory Certification System. Konica Minolta has implemented its unique Green Factory Certification System for comprehensive evaluation of the environmental activities of its production sites. Wuxi Factory is the first to be certified with Level 2 status among Konica Minolta's worldwide Business Technologies manufacturing plants.

Konica Minolta has been running the Green Factory Certification System since January 2010, as one of pillars helping it reach the goals in its Medium-Term Environmental Plan 2015. The system has a set of targets called “Level 2” to be achieved by fiscal 2015 in each of its objectives: preventing global warming; supporting a recycling-oriented society; reducing the risks of chemical substances; restoring and preserving biodiversity; and so on. Production sites around the world have been developing their environmental initiatives to meet the Level 2 goals. The Level 2 criteria include significant reduction in CO2 emissions, waste discharged externally and petroleum-based resource waste. Additionally, the production sites must meet requirements based on the guidelines with approximately 250 items regarding the implementation process of the initiatives.
