Singapore Printer Brands Launch First-Ever Joint Recycling Initiative - Project Homecoming

<h4>–Brother, Canon, Dell, Epson and Lexmark join hands to raise public environmental awareness through Singapore's first joint cartridge recycling project–</h4> <p>Five major printer brands based in Singapore: Brother, Canon, Dell, Epson and Lexmark, with the support of the National Environment Agency (NEA) and National Library Board (NLB); have announced the launch of Singapore's first-ever joint funded and managed printer brand ink and toner cartridge recycling initiative: Project Homecoming.</p> <p>As the first international expansion of a successful joint printer brand recycling project (called &quot;Ink Cartridge Satogaeri&quot;) started in Japan three years ago, the project aims to encourage community awareness and environmental responsibility among Singaporeans through convenient cartridge recycling initiatives and education.</p>

This year’s participants included Canon, Dell, Konica Minolta, Kyocera, Lexmark, Muratec, Ricoh, Samsung and Xerox. </p> <p>Established in 2006, TAC is intended to get input from key industry participants on BLI’s test methods and reports to ensure the reports evolve to meet the industry’s changing needs. Past meetings have resulted in numerous improvements, including an increased print-to-copy ratio, higher volumes of scan testing and the inclusion of optimum monthly volumes for each device based on vendor-supplied averages for each speed range. </p>

Dell Chosen to Continue Providing Infrastructure Services to the United States Coast Guard

<p>FAIRFAX, Va., Jan. 20, 2011 – Perot Systems Government Services (PSGS), a unit of Dell Services and a wholly-owned subsidiary of Dell, has been selected as a first-tier subcontractor by the U.S. Coast Guard (USCG) to provide a range of infrastructure services including evaluation of emerging technologies to traditional desktop, server and network towers as part of the Ace Info Solutions team. Dell’s subsidiary had been providing support on the previous contract for the USCG’s Operations System Center (OSC) in West Virginia. For the new five-year Core Technologies Services (CTS) contract, Dell Services will be providing staffing for 25 percent of the OSC’s facility for an estimated $18 million.</p> <p>Every day, members of the Dell Services OSC team directly support the Coast Guard’s search and rescue operations with application and other IT support services. Over the years, the team has helped the Coast Guard with a series of innovations and key initiatives including development and implementation of a service oriented architecture -- which has since been adopted by the entire Coast Guard -- deployment of an enterprise computing model, and the implementation of an ITIL model roadmap for the deployment of services. The team also supported the Coast Guard’s rescue efforts during Hurricanes Katrina and Rita, standing up several large command posts and ensuring vital connectivity for more than 1,900 responders from 81 USCG units.</p>
