Océ Business Services Shares Recommendations to Help Organizations to Increase Mail Management Efficiency while Containing Costs

NEW YORK (May 12, 2008) – With postage price increases taking effect today, Océ Business Services, a leader in document process management and electronic discovery, shared recommendations to help enterprises increase the efficiency of their mail management operations while containing costs.
Océ Business Service provides the following guidelines designed to help organizations address five key mail management issues:
Minimize costly flats
Fold pages and insert them into smaller envelopes. For example, inserting nine pages into a 10”x13” flat envelope will cost $1.14 in postage. Folding the same nine pages and inserting them into a 6”x9.5” envelope will cost $.59 in postage, a 49 percent savings. (A 6”x 9.5” is .5 ounces lighter than a large envelope.) In addition to folding, duplex-printing documents (copying on both sides of the page rather than one side) before mailing can reduce postage costs by minimizing both the weight and thickness of the mail piece.


Samsung Expands Its Multifunction Printer Line

May 12, 2008 - At a recent briefing in New York City, Samsung Electronics America displayed new MFP products that it hopes will allow it to grab more market share. Back in March of 2007, Samsung launched the A4-sized SCX-6345N MFP, which is a 45-ppm device that offers standard network printing, convenience copy, scan and optional faxing. The 45-ppm unit is now joined by the monochrome 55-ppm SCX-6555N, which is also an A4-size unit. While the 55-ppm unit was the only monochrome model on display, Samsung officials said that the company plans to expand its monochrome MFP line up to 75 ppm within the next year, to be followed in the next three to five years by models with speeds of between 90 ppm and 110 ppm, which would allow the company to target high-volume production environments. Further, the company displayed the MultiXpress CLX-8380ND, which is Samsung’s fastest color printer to date. Three additional color printers were presented, the single-pass CLX-6200FX, CLX-6210FX and CLX-6240FX, which will replace Samsung’s multi-pass predecessors. 


Hewlett-Packard Company Foundation Commits $250,000 to World Food Programme for Relief Efforts in Myanmar (Burma)

PALO ALTO, Calif., May 9, 2008 - The Hewlett-Packard Company Foundation today announced it has committed $250,000 to the United Nations World Food Programme (WFP) for aid in the disaster relief efforts in Myanmar (Burma).

HP and its employees around the world have been deeply moved by the devastating impact of Cyclone Nargis on the hundreds of thousands of innocent citizens in communities in southern Myanmar.

The HP Company Foundation contribution comes on the heels of an urgent request by the WFP (www.wfp.org), one of only two relief agencies operating in the country, to assist them in their efforts to help the victims of the storm.
