imageWARE: Making the most of technology to share information

imageWARE thumbnail

The Background

Midwest Transit Equipment Inc., the largest new and used bus dealer in the United States, has five locations covering Illinois, Indiana, Michigan and Missouri. They needed to share information accurately and efficiently between offices. Large files (sometimes numbering as many as 400 pages) were produced daily and many times they needed to be shared instantly and easily accessed at all of the company's locations.

The Solution

Martin Whalen worked with Midwest Transit to develop a system using imageWARE software technology to deliver a total document workflow solution that is seamless, flexible and easy to use. A high-speed scanner was installed to allow large documents to be quickly scanned and placed on the imageWARE system.

At Midwest Transit they pride themselves on being innovative with marketing and sales efforts. Part of Midwest Transit's marketing plan includes an active direct mail program targeted at key potential customers. The marketing has been effective in driving new business, but there were also growing supply bills for their HP color printer. Midwest Transit experimented with outsourcing print jobs but was not able to get the price and quick turnaround time they wanted. They needed a way to handle in-house color printing that was able to combine low cost with quality output and reliability. </p> <p>The Solution </p> <p>Midwest Transit decided on a Canon Color imageRUNNER 3200 from Martin Whalen to produce all their color prints. The imageRUNNER with a saddle-stitch finisher allows mail pieces to be printed and folded at a pace that keeps up with the high-speed marketing department. </p>

Cytyc Corporation is a global, biomedical company that designs, develops, manufactures, and markets innovative diagnostic and surgical products. Their products include a range of cancer and women's health applications. Cytyc's corporate headquarters are located in Marlborough, MA.

THE CHALLENGE

Rising service costs, needing to stock thousands of dollars of toner cartridges onsite, and paying a portion of their annual service contract upfront, were only some of the issues Cytyc was facing when Jim Lekas, Cytyc's IS Operations Analyst, pursued firm wide cost saving options which led him to a new print management service provider.

In its top to bottom current state analysis, Page After Page was shocked to find that Cytyc stocked three toner cartridges for each of their 90-100 existing local printers. Lekas estimates that at any given time they had between $10,000 - $20,000 worth of cartridges stored in their stockroom.

Banking: A Simple Solution to save time and money

<p><a href="http://www.officeproductnews.net/files/bankingthumbnail.jpg"><img title="banking thumbnail" style="border-top-width: 0px; display: inline; border-left-width: 0px; border-bottom-width: 0px; margin: 0px 10px 0px 0px; border-right-width: 0px" height="239" alt="banking thumbnail" src="http://www.officeproductnews.net/files/bankingthumbnail_thumb.jpg" width="190" align="left" border="0" /></a></p> <p>The Background </p> <p>A popular local bank was experiencing some growing pains as it added branches and customers. One of the issues was the large month end statements that took all night to print. It was an inefficient process that the bank decided they needed to reevaluate. </p> <p>The Solution </p> <p>Martin Whalen staff took the time to understand the bank's situation and realized that the overused HP printer they were printing on was costing them both time and money due to the machine's slow speed and the expensive supplies that constantly needed to be replaced. Part of the solution was replacing the printer with a high-speed Canon imageRUNNER 5070 multi-functional device that was able to do the job with less expense. The statement printing that had taken all night and required constant attention to correct jams and monitor paper and supply levels is now able to be done easily in just 3 hours. In addition to the increased speed from the Canon there was also improved functionality with the addition of copying, scanning and faxing with the updated device. </p>
