I.R.I.S and eCopy Extend Relationship to Bring Advanced Document Services to eCopy Open Platform

Brussels and London, March 11, 2008 – I.R.I.S. Group (Euronext Brussels: IRI) and eCopy, Inc. today announced the companies have extended their relationship so all I.R.I.S. intelligent document recognition (IDR) technologies will be available on the eCopy Open Platform (eOP) document imaging software architecture. The initial results of this close collaboration will enable eCopy customers to purchase two I.R.I.S. software applications as add-on products to eCopy ShareScan document imaging software.

The first I.R.I.S. technologies available on eOP will include image enhancement, image cleanup, advanced compression, bar code recognition and automated metadata capture. These advanced imaging capabilities are typically associated with production scanning operations that require highly-trained document imaging specialists. I.R.I.S and eCopy are bringing these technologies out of the back office, making them available to front office workers.

I.R.I.S. was one of the first independent software vendors (ISVs) to use eCopy’s new Document Services Application Programming Interface (also announced today, see related press release) to create add-on document services for eCopy ShareScan. By using the Document Services API, I.R.I.S. has made its advanced technologies available to all eCopy application Connectors.

“eCopy and I.R.I.S. have enjoyed a profitable, long-term relationship,” said Pierre De Muelenaere, I.R.I.S. Group President and CEO. “For the past ten years, eCopy customers have benefited from OCR technology embedded within eCopy products. By making the Document Services API available, eCopy has provided us with the perfect opportunity to make our other market-leading technologies available to eCopy customers.”

The first two I.R.I.S. Document Services products available to eCopy ShareScan users are:

  • IRISDocOptimizerTM 7 DS for eCopy ShareScan – Adds advanced image enhancement, document clean up, barcode reading, blank page removal and automated meta data capture features directly to eCopy ShareScan to improve the handling, appearance, categorization and management of scanned documents.
  • IRISPdf 7 Server for eCopy ShareScan – Provides highly advanced compression, automated indexing tools and conversion to extended file formats, e.g., XPS and PDF/A. I.R.I.S. designed this software to provide significant image file size reductions that consume less network bandwidth while maintaining the fidelity of the original paper document.

Other I.R.I.S. products that will be incorporated into the eOP and available to eCopy ShareScan users in the future will include zonal optical character recognition (OCR), forms recognition, invoice processing and document classification.

“eCopy has had a history of successfully delivering sophisticated document imaging technology that any office worker can use to increase productivity, information security and maintain regulatory compliance,” said Edward Schmid, President and CEO of eCopy. “I.R.I.S has been an important partner in our success. As our customers look for increasingly sophisticated document imaging technology, I.R.I.S will continue to use our platform, and now our new Document Services API, to deliver new, advanced document services capabilities to eCopy customers. ”

Availability
eCopy will begin offering IRISDocOptimizer 7 DS and IRISPdf 7 Server with eCopy Professional Services beginning in calendar Q2 2008. For more information, please e-mail sales@ecopy.com.
