(NASDAQ: CAPA), a leading provider of software products that automate document-centric processes, today announced the industry’s only TIFF iFilter for Microsoft Office SharePoint® Server 2007. Captaris put to use its powerful OCR engine to enable the new TIFF iFilter to conduct full text search and retrieval of image documents alongside Microsoft Office and other electronic documents. The new product was developed in response to a direct request from Microsoft’s customers for TIFF support in Office SharePoint Server 2007. The Captaris TIFF iFilter supports Office SharePoint Server 2007, Search Server 2008 and Search Server 2008 Express.

According to industry analyst firm Gartner, “On average, professionals spend 50 percent of their time looking for information.” This number will continue to grow as more and more content is being fed into the enterprise and for businesses that have a high volume of scanned or faxed-in documents the search and discovery process is an overwhelmingly burdensome task.
