MHP (Multi-Host Printing) Solution
In IBM host printer environments, companies are traditionally forced to choose between two output options. They can choose printers and servers equipped to support the graphics-rich IPDS data stream, or they can opt for the more affordable and significantly more pervasive SCS data stream. With its ability to support formatted text, barcodes, logos, images and other graphics, IPDS is ideal for printing invoices, checks, statements, inventory tracking paperwork and more, but this technology comes at a significant premium in both the IBM server and printer hardware. SCS, on the other hand, is standard on many IBM host servers, including the popular iSeries mid-range servers, and is readily available through a wide range of more affordable printing solutions. However, this text-based data stream is generally only suitable for printing “green bar” reports and other limited textbased documents.
But what if there was a way to combine the power of graphicsrich documents with the pervasiveness of the SCS data stream? Better still, how about if one could output such documents on widely available and highly cost-effective HP LaserJet Printers and HP LaserJet MFP’s (Multi-Function Printers)? Capella Technologies provides such a valuable printing solution to IBM host environments.
