Océ office range awarded Blue Angel certificate

Venlo, The Netherlands, 31 March 2008 — The award of the prestigious Blue Angel label to almost the entire Océ office product range is proof of the products’ environmental-friendly qualities. The Blue Angel label is administered by the renowned German quality assurance and product labeling institute (www.ral.de ), who have recently made their certification requirements even more stringent. More than ever, the Blue Angel label is one of the world's most sought-after environmental awards for office equipment — but also brings very practical benefits to office users.

Healthier working environment

The award-winning Océ VarioPrint-, CS- and MP-Series systems have fulfilled very strict requirements on emissions of dust, heat, ozone and noise. The machines produce virtually no ozone emissions thanks to the use of efficient energy saving technologies like short warm-up times, power saving modes, toner saving modes as well as the overall extremely low power consumption during operation. All that adds up and contributes to a healthier environment for office workers and sets new industry standards.

Sharp Enhances Copier Toner Recycling Program

From Buyers Lab.

March 28, 2008 - Sharp recently announced that it has expanded its Toner Cartridge Recycling Program to include Sharp toner from all Sharp models, including MFPs. According to Sharp, users go to www.sharpusa.com/recycle and enter the type of shipping method they wish to use (a bulk container for up to 10 toner cartridges, the original toner box or the customer’s own packaging), the type of Sharp model, the estimated weight of the package, and basic contact information.

Customers then print out the shipping label to place on the package. The recycled toner can then be picked up by UPS or dropped off at the nearest UPS location, where it will be shipped to one of three recycling centers nationwide. For those with bulk orders, cartons made of recycled cardboard are sent via UPS. Sharp’s recycling Web site says that this service is only for Sharp toner products and that Sharp will charge customers for all costs associated with the shipping and recycling of any non-Sharp product received.

The Bureau Selects EFI Hagen OA to Manage Complex Needs of Hybrid Print Business

Foster City, Calif. – March 27, 2008 – EFI (Nasdaq: EFII), the world leader in customer-focused digital printing innovation, today announced that commercial printer The Bureau, of Minneapolis, Minn., has installed Hagen OA to manage their large volume of digital and offset work. The Bureau then went through an accelerated installation and began using Hagen in January of this year.

The Bureau is one of four divisions of the Bureau of Engraving, Inc., which opened its doors in 1898. The Bureau offers full color digital and offset sheetfed printing as well as full service prepress, finishing and bindery capabilities for a diverse set of customers. On the digital side, The Bureau produces on demand jobs for 12,000 to 15,000 personalized textbooks a month along with work ranging from complex variable data applications to photo books, sales collaterals, training materials and other short run color projects. The offset side of the company handles a large volume of point-of-purchase and point-of-sale printing, along with commercial work for retailers, design agencies, Fortune 500 companies, health care and insurance firms.
