Sagem-Interstar’s IP Fax Solutions Now Rated “Avaya 5.1 Compliant”

Montreal, Canada – (Marketwire – May 18, 2009) – Sagem-Interstar Inc. (Sagem Communications), the global leader* in advanced fax solutions for IP networks (www.sagem-interstar.com), today announced that its XMediusFAX boardless T.38 FoIP server solutions are compliant with key IP telephony solutions from Avaya, a leading global provider of business communications applications, systems and services.

XMediusFAX FoIP solutions have been compliance-tested by Avaya for compatibility with Avaya Communication Manager 5.1 along with Avaya Media Gateways.

The patented T.38 XMediusFAX FoIP solutions will be showcased at the International Alliance of Avaya Users (InAAU) conference (Booth 534), held May 17-21 in Orlando, Florida.

“Our green-optimized XMediusFAX IP fax server solutions address the accelerating global TDM to IP migration trend,” says Jean Champagne, General Manager at Sagem-Interstar. “XMediusFAX FoIP benefits businesses with Avaya Unified Communications (UC) infrastructures by enhancing productivity, streamlining operations, and lowering Total Cost of Ownership (TCO) in the context of today’s economic climate of increasingly stringent regulatory compliances, evolving UC and ECM infrastructure strategies, and requirements for integration with MFP, ERP/CRM, virtualization and SIP trunking systems.

” One of the companies benefiting from the interoperability of XMediusFAX FoIP and Avaya solutions is the American Chartered Bank, a premier bank in the northwest Illinois suburban corridor, with 14 locations. American Chartered Bank relies heavily on faxing of thousands of pages of sensitive account and loan information and other banking documents every month.

"XMediusFAX did claim to offer ‘seamless integration,’ and now that we have it up and running, this is absolutely true. The installation process was very quick and did not require that much work to be done within Avaya Communication Manager. Everyone likes the way they can now receive faxes into their email boxes and only print those items that they absolutely need to print. The product does everything that was promised and is very easy to administer," said Gary Peters, Second Vice President of Information Systems at American Chartered Bank.

Sagem-Interstar is a Gold member of the Avaya DevConnect program—an initiative to develop, market and sell innovative third-party products that interoperate with Avaya technology and extend the value of a company’s investment in its network.

As a Gold member of the program, Sagem-Interstar is eligible to submit products for compatibility testing by the Avaya Solution Interoperability and Test Lab in Lincroft, N.J. There a team of Avaya engineers develops a comprehensive test plan for each application to verify whether it is Avaya compliant. Doing so ensures businesses can confidently add best-in-class capabilities to their network without having to replace their existing infrastructure—speeding deployment of new applications and reducing both network complexity and implementation costs.

“By offering compliance testing to the many innovative companies like Sagem-Interstar who are members of our DevConnect program, Avaya promotes fully interoperable solutions that help businesses unleash powerful new possibilities,” said Eric Rossman, vice president, developer relations and technical alliances, Avaya.
