PALO ALTO, Calif., Jan. 29, 2009 – HP today announced the launch of a compact, low-cost imaging platform for continuous-form, label and flexible media color printers based on HP’s patented Scalable Printing Technology (SPT).
The new HP Scanning Imager 1100 for the original equipment manufacturer (OEM) market offers fast color printing at speeds up to 3.4 inches per second with low intervention rates, low running costs and high efficiency. HP partners will show the first end-user products to incorporate this imager at several upcoming events for the label and packaging, petroleum exploration and geoscience industries.
“The HP Scanning Imager 1100 offers key enhancements that take fast, low-cost and high-quality SPT inkjet imaging to new markets in ways that emphasize HP’s abiding commitment to customer success for OEMs and their clients,” said Kathy Tobin, vice president and general manager, HP Specialty Printing Systems (SPS).
The HP Scanning Imager 1100 (SI-1100) prints in four-color process using pigment or dye HP aqueous inks. The imager offers numerous productivity enhancing features, including:
- HP’s fourth-generation thermal inkjet writing system – SPT – which enables high nozzle density for trouble-free printing at faster speeds
- ICC color matching
- A full 8.5-inch (21.59 cm) scanning print zone
- Lower total costs with customer-replaceable printheads and high-capacity ink supplies
- Imaging resolutions up to 1,200 x 1,200 dots per inch.
Adaptable to a range of applications, and available now to OEMs
Adaptable to a range of value-driven applications, the HP SI-1100 is available now to OEMs. It has already been deployed in newly available industrial end-user products from HP SPS partners VIP Color and The Imaging Systems Group Inc. (iSys).
VIP Color’s SI-1100 enabled product, the VP485 printer, offers packagers on-demand label printing at a low price per piece. VIP Color is scheduled to exhibit the VP485 at Verpackung Nord, Jan. 29-30 in Hamburg, Germany; and West Pack, Feb. 10-12 in Anaheim, Calif.
HP SPS partner iSys has leveraged the HP SI-1100’s dual-motor design – the new feature that enables continuous-form printing – to develop the iTerra IJ875, a high print quality solution for well logging, site scan sonar, and geological and geophysical reporting applications. iSys, a company that previously worked with HP SPS to launch the first color inkjet printer for well logging use, is scheduled to show the iTerra IJ875 at upcoming petroleum exploration and geoscience conferences.
More information on the HP SI-1100 is available at HP SPS’ recently upgraded website, www.hp.com/oeminkjet. In addition to offering information for current and prospective OEM partners, the revised site now offers useful information and links for end users, including direct links to OEMs’ supplies pages for streamlined online ordering.
