Newburgh, NY – May 11, 2009 – DocuWare, a leading provider of Integrated Document Management (IDM) solutions, has teamed up with ABBYY®, a leading provider of document recognition, data capture and linguistic software, and Fujitsu Computer Products of America, Inc., the leading provider of scanner equipment and services. Users now have access to an integrated workflow solution which offers touch-screen efficiency that significantly reduces document management overhead for cost conscious companies.
The integration combines DocuWare’s IDM solutions software, ABBYY’s TouchTo™ data capture product for LCD-based touch-screen technology and the Fujitsu fi-6010N iScanner. This solution gives users the ability to scan and “tap” elements within any document – invoices, contracts, bills of lading – and send them directly to index fields for fast and easy document capturing and management.
Using optical character recognition (OCR), TouchTo allows users to directly route any field in any document scanned with the customizable, easy to use, and highly secure fi-6010N iScanner, directly into a DocuWare file cabinet index field. Once captured, DocuWare can electronically manage documents, enabling users to improve efficiencies through workflow. Electronic documents, for example, can be shared, annotated or e-mailed. This is controlled through user rights ensuring their integrity and security. By electronically filing information, companies can improve customer service helping to retain their customer base, better manage their accounts payable and receivables, meet industry compliances and records retention regulations and eliminate manual filing, searches and lost or misplaced information.
“By bundling this complete solution, it can be used for any application – ideally for specific document types within an application,” noted Greg Schloemer, president of DocuWare. “ABBYY software and Fujitsu hardware are well known for their ease-of-use and dependability and both enable this integration to provide an innovative touch-screen solution for automating document management.”
“Fujitsu is always looking for opportunities to partner with other innovative companies to provide customers with the best document imaging solutions for improving business processes,” said Doug Rudolph, vice president of product management and business development, Fujitsu Computer Products of America, Inc. “The integration of the fi-6010N iScanner with document management technologies from DocuWare and ABBYY speak to the growth in popularity of network scanning over the last few years. Customers are looking for easy ways to scan documents into their business applications but are challenged with how to train their employees that need occasional, ad-hoc scanning. The fi-6010N iScanner allows for easier scanner deployment and requires less training for the occasional user."
“By electronically filing information with key metadata, companies can improve customer service and document management procedures while meeting industry compliance and records retention regulations,” said Joe Budelli, vice president of sales of ABBYY USA.
