Samsung will shortly release a new range of mono laser printers and MFPs, starting with the modest ML-1910 personal laser printer, which online retailers are already pricing at a very affordable £83, and going up to the SCX-4623FN MFP (speculatively priced at £189) and single-function ML-2580N (£108).

Even the most expensive of these is hardly going to break the bank, although none is exactly what we'd describe as an office workhorse. Only two, the SCX-4623FN and ML-2580N, have Ethernet ports for network printing and their high yield cartridges can only print 2.500 pages before they need replacing.

However, the real value of these devices is as personal printers for home and small offices. This is a market that Samsung's recent printers have been well suited to, with compact, quiet and attractive styling and sharp print quality. The new printers do little to break this successful mould, although there are a few improvements, like redesigned paper trays to minimise dust on the paper and noise while printing, faster print speeds and a print screen button located on the printer itself. This physical print screen button instructs the driver to capture and optimise the content of your screen, including multiple browsers and windows, automatically eliminating excess space and unnecessary content.

We'll be testing out this and all the other improved features as soon as we get our hands on some review samples.
