What’s color got to do with it?

In today’s competitive business environment, it is critical to get the highest possible return from customer communications like invoices, proposals and marketing materials.

Recent research indicates that using color and graphics in written communication boosts interest, enhances retention, improves comprehension and persuades more easily.

Neurological and psychological research has shown that the impact of color is significant and largely unconscious. Studies have shown that as much as 60% of consumers decide to purchase a new product based on its color rather than quality, workmanship or price guarantee.

The results of the study, found in The Definitive Guide to Office Color Printing by Don Jones, revealed the following powerful benefits of communicating with color:

Xerox's ColorQube Solid Ink Multifunction Printer Wins Award for Innovation and Environmental Benefits

NORWALK, Conn., May 26, 2009  -- Xerox Corporation's (NYSE: XRX) ColorQube™ 9200 Series multifunction printer (MFP), launched earlier this month, is already turning heads in the office printing market. The MFP was honored with a Technological Innovation Award from Industry Analysts, Inc., in recognition of the breakthrough technology behind the world's first high-speed solid ink multifunction printer.

Industry Analysts Technical Services Division (IATSD) cited Xerox's technological innovation in expanding solid ink from desktop printers to business-class MFPs capable of printing at speeds up to 85 pages per minute in color.

According to Ted Needleman, senior director of IATSD, "Xerox's solid ink printers have long been recognized as a unique and effective approach to desktop color printing. Xerox has taken this proven approach and ramped it up with new print heads and a new controller that permit high-speed, high-quality color printing."

Customers have also seen the early benefits of solid ink technology. The Old Orchard Junior High School in Skokie, Ill. tested the ColorQube MFP and teachers expressed "hue-phoria" at the power of printing in color. "I use color in every document I create for my students now," said Clifton Dahlgren, seventh grade reading and language arts teacher. "It makes a difference with what the students take away from the lesson."

Aviation Information Leader Jeppesen Selects Océ ColorStream 10050 Systems to Print Critical Flight Data Products

Trumbull, CT, May 26, 2009 – Océ, an international leader in digital document management and delivery, announced that Jeppesen has selected two Océ ColorStream™ 10050 full-color continuous feed systems to produce critical aviation information documents with near-offset quality and rapid speed. Jeppesen, a subsidiary of Boeing Commercial Aviation services, is the leading producer of transportation navigation information in the United States. Pilots and airlines around the world depend on Jeppesen charting and navigation services for the latest information about airports, runways and airspace.

While these mission-critical flight manuals are indispensable tools for helping pilots reach their destinations safely, producing them presents several challenges – tight production windows, increasingly short runs, exacting quality standards and variable content. Each flight manual is compiled based on specific airline or pilot requests and contains current data on hundreds of airports. The manuals, which feature comprehensive full-color approach images, visual details about runways and taxiways, and alerts highlighting recent changes or unusual conditions, are updated frequently. When changes occur at airports, FAA requirements mandate that updates be published and delivered to all pilots flying to those airports within a specified time frame.

Speed and Versatility for a Diversity of Applications
To better handle a diverse array of jobs with speed, versatility and quality, Jeppesen will replace two aging black and white printing systems with two Océ ColorStream 10050 systems. Jeppesen produces up to 14,000 different jobs a month, with an average monthly volume of 25 million Jeppesen sheets expected for the Océ ColorStream systems. Jeppesen can handle the hard deadlines and high print volumes in a single pass. Automating production tasks and removing manual intervention as much as possible increase productivity. With the speed of the new systems, Jeppesen can produce the complex manuals within the tightest production windows.
